Can I Custom Order, or Pre-Order?

Can I custom order a cake?

No, we’re sorry.

We are primarily a coffee house and not a custom bakery.   We are building our coffee house slowly, and therefore, we chose to open the bakery first because it was the lowest cost to get started.   As we raise money, we will add the coffee bar, breakfast menu and full lunch menu.  The baked goods we have available are what we serve for our coffee house menu.

Can I order custom printed cupcakes with a message on them?

No.  we are not a custom bakery; however, you are welcome to pre-order (a dozen or more) of any of our treats as we package them for the coffee house.  That is, they have to be ordered the way we display them in our coffee house for the type of treat you want to order.

Can I order a cake if it’s already a flavor you make as a cupcake?

No, again, we do not make custom cakes.   All of our cakes are served in single-size portions, like the picture below.  Once in a while, Mommy Jean will bake a fun cake and display it at the coffee house.  These types of cakes are what we call “baker’s choice” and are not available for pre-ordering.  They are made for our coffee house display and service is by the slice.

Can I pre-order several of the single-size portion cakes shown above?

Absolutely!  We only make a certain amount of each flavor per day, so by pre-ordering, you guarantee you’ll get what you want, even if we are not serving the flavor you request on the day you need the cupcakes.   For instance, if you want Red Velvet on Sunday, call ahead and we’ll make sure we’re serving that flavor (if you request a dozen or more).

On Sunday, we usually make two flavors of cupcakes because that’s the day we do a lot of fun baking and will have other treats available that are not available through the rest of the week.

What flavors can I pre-order?

Monday-Friday we usually have the following available:  Carrot Spice, Chocolate Torte, Tropical Pineapple, Red Velvet and Vanilla.

Flavors we rotate throughout the month, from which you may also pre-order even if we aren’t serving it the day you need that flavor, (provided you order a minimum of one dozen) include:

  • Butter Pecan
  • Caramel Praline
  • Chocolate Mint
  • Coconut
  • German Chocolate
  • Lemon Crumb
  • Mocha
  • Neapolitan (Strawberry, Chocolate & Vanilla)
  • Nutmeg
  • Pineapple Upside Down Cake
  • Pumpkin Spice
  • Strawberry
  • Toffee

Why do I have to order at least a dozen?

The reason we require a dozen minimum is because we bake in small batches, from scratch.  We do not stock all ingredients for the above flavors because we want our stock rotated rapidly, to ensure freshness.   If we order supplies for a pre-order, we will be able to use the supplies sooner if you order at least a dozen.  This means, the other dozen or so cupcakes can easily be put on display in the coffee house for other customers.  If we allowed less than a dozen to be ordered, we may not be able to sell the extras and therefore, it’s a waste.

Why do you put the cupcakes in a bag?  Why not just serve them the traditional way?

Our cupcakes are rich, dense and moist.   A traditional cupcake is usually dry when it’s left in a case or refrigerated.   Anderson County requires us to refrigerate our cupcakes because they contain cream cheese.   Our chocolate torte is filled with whipped cream.

This means we are not allowed to leave our cupcakes out all day (which is why you only see a few at a time on display.)  We had to come up with a way that will accommodate health code laws, and yet still be attractive and convenient.  That’s why we chose the bags.  They are classy, cover the whole cupcake, (thus keeping us in compliance with laws) and are easy to transport to and from the fridge.  If you notice, our cupcakes are sealed rim to rim with icing or frosting.  This prevents the cake from drying out since we are required to refrigerate.
